Canon SELPHY CP760 Compact Photo Printer (2565B001) Review

I'm still using HP Photosmart A618 to print 5 x 7 & some 4 x 6 photos. I'll not compare the Inkjet technology with Dye-sublimation because the dye-sub is clearly better in image quality even with 300dpi(dye-sub) vs 600dpi(inkjet). but I'll write about what I liked & what I didn't like using Canon brand printer. btw, I print from the PC (fix the exposure, remove noise..etc photos using Lightroom or any other software) and then I use the official software to print.
What I liked:
- The photo is super clear and the printer produces amazing quality (outstanding). you will never be disappointed. I assure you that.
- The printer is fast enough.
- The paper quality is very good and you will not be worried about papers & ink (36 ink cartridge size will print 36 photos, no less no more). What I didn't like:
- The paper size isn't perfect 4 x 6 (101.6 x 152.4). It's smaller (100mm x 148mm) in Canon and maybe more smaller than that.
I compared the HP 4 x 6 paper with Canon 4 x 6 paper and the HP was bigger by 2-3mm in width and height. I believe that HP produces a better size of 4 x 6 because when I resize any photo to 4 X 6 using any software I get (101.6 x 152.4) which means 1800x1200 ,resolution 300dpi. But When I print this photo size using Canon, the printer will crop automatically 2-5mm from width and height (Canon paper has 2 tabs at the right and left sides which can be removed after you print the photo). The printer will print at least 3mm in the tab area and will crop 2-4mm from the height.
Now if I don't want to lose any part of the photo, I should resize all the photos I have to 1748x1181 (100mm x 148mm). To do this, I must disable the constrain aspect ratio. but this will make my photo worse (a square looks like rectangle). To override this problem, I must not disable the constrain aspect ratio but I need to make the height exactly 100mm. that's mean I'll sacrifice some (mm) in the both sides of width (if the Canon paper really 100mm height).- The default colors settings aren't correct (for me the orange color was warm yellow and the warm yellow in the reality was almost green!!). what you see in the PC screen is different than the printed photo. I printed 8 pictures to find the correct settings for me. Raised the contrast, exposure and saturation a little and not equally. still, the final result not perfect but very good. (the colors, contrast and other settings in my monitor is correctly adjusted. mostly as I can see by my eyes).Final words:
Before you buy any Canon dye-sub printer, take a look in Epson (PM260 or PM280) or the Fuji (QS-70 or QS-7). Check the actual paper size to make sure you get the 99% of the frame in the final result from the printer. You will need to take a photo to any shop and print it by the models you are thinking of. Make sure to set the resolution at 300dpi and the paper size of 4 x 6. Compare the results and choose what you like then.

Canon KP-108IN Color Ink Paper Set (3115B001) Review

Canon KP-108IN Color Ink Paper Set (3115B001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The most cost-effective paper and ink pack for the Selphy CP-series, comes down to about 27 cents per photo right now. The box contains three ink packs, each good for 36 prints, and six 18-photo-paper packs (The CP-760 can only hold 18 photos in its tray). Everything you need to print exactly 108 photos. The paper has Canon written on the back in light gray. The Canon KP-108IP Color Ink/Paper Set (note the "IP") has postcard back but is harder to find.
These dye-sub packs print exactly the number of photos indicated, no more, no less, no matter the color coverage on the photo. The "ink" cartridge has a roll of 4-inch-wide film with 6-inch-long sections of each dye (yellow, magenta, cyan) followed by a clear coat, repeated exactly 36 times.
When printing, each dye layer goes over the photo and transfers the color to the paper using heat. Sublimation is vaporizing the "ink" from the film in controlled amounts, which is then deposited onto the paper. The printer lets you see the photo at each stage which is neat. The final layer is a plastic clear coat that makes it smudge-proof and water-resistant.
The result of this process is that the film inside the used ink cartridge ends up with accurate negatives of your prints in each color. That is why the cartridge can't be reused, but that also means the photos you printed can be recovered from a discarded "empty" cartridge. If that is a problem then I suppose you can yank the film out and dispose of it some other way (not heat as it may cause the remaining dye to vaporize in the air you breathe).

I am a professional wedding & portrait photographer...specializing in quality artistic imagery. I did A TON of research online looking for an affordable, quick, and quality printer to allow me to print 4"x6" souvenir prints for wedding reception guests. I purchased this little yellow bucket Canon printer about 3 weeks before I had a big Bridal Expo and was excited to try it out on shopping Brides...giving each Bride who stopped by my booth a chance to get photographed and take home a souvenir print. I was a little nervous...since I'd never EVER done on-location printing, let alone on a new product and experimenting on 3000+ potential new clients. ...I was amazing at that little printer...it ran, pretty much non-stop, for 6 hours...printing back to back. I ended up printing about 200 prints that day.
I used a Canon 5D mark II camera, wirelessly triggering a strobe studio light, hooked up by cord to the Canon Selphy printer...and would just the direct printing option via the playback on LCD screen.
Pros: Small & portable, SUPER easy use (print directly by Canon camera, or plug in memory card), good quality prints
Cons: It took a little longer than I expected each print would take. I was printing directly from my camera and didn't realize until beginning that I wasn't able to take another picture until the current image was done printing. That was a big draw back when I had a very long line of Brides waiting for their turn to be photographed. I didn't time it exactly, but I think it look a minute or over to produce each print.
Considering the other products in the price range, this was the perfect printer for the job...I just need to order a second one and have two cameras going the next time I have such a large event.

Canon Selphy CP780 Silver Compact Photo Printer Review

I got tired of sending prints to the drugstore and getting mediocre quality, so I decided to see if I could manage it better with a printer at home. Even after I bought it, I was skeptical of what kind of results I'd get, but I was totally wowed. The prints are vivd, crisp, and gorgeous. I absolutely love it. The only qualm I have is the cropping issue another reviewer lamented about. If printing directly from the printer, you don't have many editing options. (It's designed for the less technically inclined.) Printing from a computer lets you be more specific as far as indicating the print area on your photo, but the 4x6 sizing is not conducive to digital images. You're going to lose part of your picture no matter what. Even so, it's incredible for the price, so I'm happy to sing it's praises.

The colors are brilliant, I was surprised a portable printer can create such outstanding picture quality. Stunning colors!
I bought a pink camera that came with a pink printer and I took the printer with me to a family reunion. We had so much fun with it!
You will be very pleased with the picture quality. I highly recommend this cartridge and paper pack. It's perfect! Just enough paper to match the amount of ink in the cartridge!

Canon CP-300 Photo Printer Review

Canon CP-300 Photo Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been around technology for many years, and you know, a lot of things aren't what they're promised to be. Not so with the CP-300 - it's everything Canon said it would be - print quality is incredible, cost per print is reasonable, printer setup and operation are simple, and printing is fast. All technology should be like this.
Print quality is far far far superior to my Epson Photo 820 or my older HP Photosmart P1000. When I show the 4x6 prints from the CP-300 to friends, they're uniformly surprised - you really can't tell that they're not normal photographic prints. Cost per print (ink + paper) is reasonable and actually cheaper than either inkjet printer.
Printing from either the computer or direct from my Canon S50 couldn't be easier. Canon did a great job with a simple, straightforward print driver for Windows. They didn't seem to need to include all the complexity (and hassle) of the Epson and HP drivers. The CP-300 is easy to live with - printing is easy, cartridge & paper loading is easy, no head cleaning, no head alignment, no head priming. Battery life has been fine for the limited on-battery printing I've done so far with it.
I will never again print photos on anything less than the CP-300.

It's the coolest party toy since the Polaroid: the new Canon CP-300 Photo Printer. Connect it directly to your Powershot-series Canon or other PictBridge-supporting digital camera, and you'll be printing snapshots and stickers faster than you can say "cheese." PictBridge is an industry standard that lets you print images by directly connecting your digital camera to your printer, regardless of the brand or model, without using a computer. The included USB cable adapter also lets you connect the CP-300 to your camera or your computer for access to images stored there.
Each wee image features 256-level color and 300 dpi resolution; the dye-sublimation process provides results similar to traditional photos, with rich detail and accurate skin tones. Supported papers include a variety of sizes, as well as bordered and borderless options. Whatever you choose, your images print in seconds--about 85 seconds for a postcard size, 40 for tiny labels or credit card size, when printing directly from Canon PowerShot cameras.
For added portability, the CP-300 includes a rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack and supports an optional car battery adapter (model CBA-CP100). Canon provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.
What's in the Box: Card Photo Printer CP-300 body, paper cassettes (4-by-6-inch and credit card size), ink cassette, Ni-MH battery, compact power adapter, CD-ROM driver, trial standard paper (4-by-6-inch size)

If you are looking for a photo printer that is convenient basic and easy to use...you cannot go wrong here! The photos print out quickly and are great quality. The printer comes with some paper & ink however if you want to print more then a few you'll need to buy additional paper & ink...which is somewhat of a pain but is honestly to be expected. It's a great addition to any house with families or those who like to take pictures. The best part is you just stick your memory card in the slot and print. No more uploading and sending them off to pick them up an hour later or have them mailed to your house! You cannot go wrong on this printer for the price!!
